Treat your dry skin with knowledge
Dry skin persons should never use ordinary tap water. The Tap water contains too many deposits are too drying on the skin. Persons with dry skin should always avoid hot water for both washing the face and during bathing. For washing the face they should always use mineral water. Any cloth with rough texture should not be used as this may cause irritation of the skin.
Dry skin always requires a thorough and gentle cleansing. Dry skin person should go for regular whole body massage with generous quantities of oil and thick moisturizers. Dry skin is very vulnerable to infections and requires extra protection. Dry skin should never be washed with any soap because it not only removes the dirt but also the natural oils protecting the skin. After every bath dry skin should use a moisturizer or an oily cream this will help in increasing the water content of the outer layers of the skin and as a result, the skin will look vibrant and glowing. Dry skin individuals should always use a non-detergent, neutral pH product for cleaning and should use only handmade oily soap. After every cleansing use a light moisturizer to avoid drying of skin. If possible use baby oil after a bath or shower. Every night before retiring cleanse your face with a mild cleanser and then apply and massage a natural thick and oily moisturizing cream on the face and moisturizing lotion on whole body. Be generous with the cream especially around the eyes where the tiny lines and crow feet are formed. Dry skin people should always avoid highly alkaline soap and detergents like washing soda and other highly alkaline chemicals. OK
Night Moisturizing
After you clean and tone your skin, apply a splash of water or a water-misting. Pat almost dry with a soft towel, then apply a soft and mild moisturizer. Allow five minutes for immediate absorption (cover your face and throat with warm washcloths to hasten penetration). Men can skip the toner but should moisturize the delicate skin around the eye area. At night, use a very creamy cleanser or oil (baby oil is perfectly all right). Follow up with a night cream applied at least a half-hour before retiring. If you lie down immediately after applying the cream, it will "puff-up" delicate tissues around the eyes. OKDay Moisturizing
For women apply a thick and natural moisturizer or a body butter lotion over the freshly cleansed and toned skin. Apply this on your throat, cheeks, and around your eyes. For men with dry skin, they should follow two step process: 1)Apply oily and thick moisturizer immediately after shaving or they can also apply post shaving face wash with moisturizer. 2) Wait for ten minutes and then moisturize again. For dry and chapped lips remedy is to apply and massage them with a little lip balm with natural moisturizer every night before going to bed. OK Persons with dry skin should always avoid staying in overheated and also air-conditioned rooms. They should also avoid extreme and sudden changes in the temperature. Dry skin persons have a very fragile face and they should protect it from heat and wind. Both hot and cold winds are harmful for them. You are advised not to go out on a cold and windy winter day unless you have applied a rich moisturizer on your face. Cold and wind will evaporate your skin moisture and will further aggravate the dryness. Apply a facial mask once a week to clarify the skin and remove dull, dry surface skin cells. Dry skin persons should drink plenty of water to prevent chapping and cracking of skin. Essential fatty acids are also important to keep the skin moist. Keep any Chapped and cracked areas of the skin should be kept well lubricated all the time. For cracked feet apply mango butter and honey and for cracked fingers and nails use Olive oil. Smoking should be completely avoided in dry skin people because nicotine present in tobacco causes constriction of blood vessels that supply blood to the skin and as result, the skin is deprived of useful nutrients and oxygen from the body. This lack of nutrition causes dryness to increase and skin becomes parched and leathery Dry skin individuals should avoid sun as much as possible. Always eat a balanced diet containing vegetables, fruits, grains, seeds, and nuts. Vegetables such as garlic, onions, and asparagus that are high in sulfur should be advised. Yellow and orange vegetables like capsicum and carrot are rich in beta-carotene and help in persons with dry skin. Carrots and apricots are very useful for dry skin because they are rich in the vitamins A and C, both important for a supple, smooth skin. Cold-pressed flaxseed oil should be used daily on salads and baked potatoes should be used daily. Flax seeds are rich in essential fatty acids that are extremely useful for the dry skin people. In the body, these fatty acids get converted into a substance called Prostaglandins which are essential for keeping the skin healthy and glowing. OK- Milk, cheese, natural plain yogurt, leafy green vegetables and wheat germ are rich in Pantothenic acid which are needed for the synthesis of fats and oils used by the skin.
- Drink at least 2 liters of quality water every day to keep the skin well hydrated.
- Fried foods, animal fats, and heat-processed vegetable oils should always be avoided. Do not drink soft drinks or eat sugar, chocolate, potato chips, or other junk foods.
